Problem with "automceupdate" under MCE 2005

Hi Igor,

First I would like to thank you for you great program, I'm using it for 2 years already and it's working great !!! Laughing

Second, I've just recently reinstalled my MCE 2005 and have issues with the new installation of the MegaEPG:

1) I want to use the "automceupdate" feature (I didn't use it in the previous install). The problem is that when the feature is turned ON the downloading is working ok but the SW fails on the EPG update into MCE. I'm getting an exception with a title of "updepgmce.exe - Common Languate Runtime Debugger Services", and inside the dialog box it shows "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled".

What is this error and How can I fix it ?

EDIT: I've just notice that in MegaEPG 1.3.1 you explain an issue related to MCE 2005 and .NET. Is the error I'm getting related to this problem or something else? (I can't try it now since I'm not at home currently). I'm asking since as far as I remember I installed the latest .NET (version 3.5 I think) as a part of the SP3 updates.

2) Lately there are so many issues with the downloading scripts (ynet, walla, yes guide, etc.) which some are not supported and not working ok. It would be great if you publish (in the home page maybe) kind of a recommended list of which scripts to use and in which order (maybe different list for vista due to the vista_he script issue) and which scripts are not working any more.

3) I also suggest that since the "automceupdate" feature is disabled by default, you can add a line of "automceupdate = 0" in the ini file so help user to enable it, or even add "enable/disble" option in the configuration wizard.

1. Did you install the rollup

1. Did you install the rollup update and all the SPs for the MCE2005?

2. There will always be problems with the EPG from the internet sources. They are very unreliable in Israel. My preferred order is DVB (but you need a dvb-s card in that case), vista_he and finally, ynet.

Thank you for your quick & responsive reply.

Regarding the installation - Yes,  I did installed everything until few days ago including SP3 & MCE rollup (Until 2 days ago I had no more required/optional installations).

I've checked yesterday and disabled the .NET security and it didn't help. The current installed .NET framework is v3.5, but it doesn't have the "caspol.exe" file. According to some forums on the web v3.5 is still using v2.0 GUI so some people wrote that I need to use "caspol.exe" of v2.0, so I did and as mentioned - it didn't help.

Regarding the EPG - I know that DVB is the best but I currently don't have it (but I'm thinking of it...)

Can you please run the

Can you please run the command line version of the MegaEPG in order to see the exact exception info? Start-Run-cmd, "cd \program files\megaepg"   and "megaepg"

I run it from DOS window as you requested,

and the results are similar. It seems like the updepgmce.exe has some exception (When I'm updating through MCE everything is ok, but it's less usefull of course...).

Also note that since is this MCE is with the latest updates (SP3) then I also have IE8 (I don't know if it's relevant)

Huh.. How'd we get the type of the exception? Does the system Event Viewer shows you what kinda exception has happened?

Also, if you have some kind of a debug version upepgmce.exe which include some debug prints then let me know, I can use it and see if there is more info.

Hi, I did look at the Event

Hi,

I did look at the Event Viewer as you suggested (I cleared it before I execute Megaepg.exe to make sure I see only relevant events). After the program finished (failed) there was only one new event line added under "System", I clicked on Event details and also enter into Microsoft pages.

It says Event ID=26, from Microsoft web pages, there might be some problem with privilages or similar. But, I'm the only user in the system so I'm the administrator so I don't see a reason for that.

I'm really sorry for the long delay, I was abroad.

Did you try C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.....\caspol -s off

I know that .NET 3.x doesn't have caspol but you still should have it in the .NET v2.x framework.

I can't reproduce the problem

I can't reproduce the problem :(  More information about the exception is required and I wonder why it doesn't print where in the code the exception occurs. Do you have .NET v.2 installed also?

Yes, I have it installed

I will recheck in the evening but I'm sure it is installed (I think it is part of the XP SP3)
