"Restricted Content - Restrictions set by the broadcaster" error message in Live TV

Hi,

As of yesterday, I started to receive the following error message when trying to view "Live TV" Through my HTPC:
"Restricted Content - Restrictions set by the broadcaster or the originator of the content prohibit playback of this program on this computer."

I'm using VMC 32bit and made 3 changes, so hard to say which of the two is the root cause (if either), but most important for me is to find a solution.
1) I switched from "Yes" to "Hot", and now have a new digital VOD setup box instead of the Digital one from Yes.
2) I reconfigured the TV signal in the VMC to reflect my new TV provider - Hot.
3) Installed the MegaEPG application. Looks great btw.

Everything went smoothly (can also change channels via the IR receiver), and see the revised TV guide.
But, when I watch "LiveTV" through my HTPC, can see the broadcast for 2-10 seconds and then it is replaced with a blue screen showing the listed above error message.
I have my HTPC for over a year now, so suspect this switch to Hot (or reconfiguration) has something to do with my problem.

Anyone else ran into this ? and of course found a solution ?

Thank you in advance,
Amir.

Restricted content error

I've used VMC with HOT VOD memir and MegaEPG for nearly a year now without any problems (tfu, tfu, tfu)

There are some helpful hints here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/161282.aspx - basically, they suggest making sure you have the latest Microsoft updates - especially those regarding VMC. It might also be worth doing the TV card setup in VMC again.

Good luck,
Tim.

AMD X64 5200, MSI K9N Neo, 2GB RAM, 360GB HD, Hauppauge PVR150MCE kit, Vista Home Premium, and ... Hot :(

Thanks for the reply Tim. I

Thanks for the reply Tim.

I also had my VMC working for over a year now with Yes and no starting to suspect it has something to do with the switch to Hot.

I've tried the following with no success:

- Checked for updates and my system is up to date
- Reconfigured the TV signal VMC settings and capture card
- Uninstalled MegaEPG, configured and used the VMC default guide
- Ran the entire VMC configuration from scratch
- Reinstalled MegaEPG (since not likely the root cause, better I use it :) )

I think it might have to do with either the Hot VOD Memir type or maybe a Microsoft bug when reconfiguring the TV signal from Satallite to Cable.
I'm saying it could be the model of the Memir because I got a new compact VOD type of Memir and a friend of mine has an older one which is slim and wide.
I've also looked at the link you sent, the fixes over there refer to WMC 2005, so the fixes will not apply for VMC.

BTW - I too am using the Hauppauge PVR150MCE kit, Vista Home Premium and 2GB of RAM, only with an Intel based MB (Gigabyte) and an Nvidia 8500GT.

Thanks again and let me know if something else comes to mind,

Amir.
