Running from a non-admin account

I use a non-admin account for running Vista Media Center. It seems to create problems with MegaEPG: the scripts that pull the EPG info seem to work right, but at the end I get an error message about trying to right VMC EPG or something like that (sorry I didn't write down the exact message). Doing an update using an admin account works correctly.

Is there a solution?

In order to help you I need

In order to help you I need the exact error message you are getting.

Here's the error message

I tried again today, after setting the account to be an administrator.

Here's the error message from the log file, it happens after running all the scripts and download EPG data:

2008-06-20 19:07:44,773 CRITICAL I/O error writting the MCE guide.

Then you just have to add

Then you just have to add the writing permissions to a non-administrator user to the MegaEGP data directory:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\MegaEPG

and its subdirectories.

Problem solved - some details and another issue

OK I think I solved the problem:

It is all a result of installing MegaEPG under one account, and then trying to use it under another account (which was originally non-admin).
- I moved the AppData\Local\MegaEPG tree to the new account
- I changed the registry values to point to the new account
- But I did not notice that megaepg.ini has a line that also needs to be changed

Once, I updated megaepg.ini, it all seemed to work; but I still had an error 21 in MCE. I assume that MegaEPG writes something in the MCE registry configuration but could find it; so I uninstalled and re-installed MegaEPG and now it works - hopefully with no further serious problem

I still had a problem which is probably non-related: the update seems to hang when trying to pull information for "bait+" channel under the hot_he script. Isn't there a timeout value that automatically abort scripts?

Dror

Generally scripts have no

Generally scripts have no loops to be hung in however I'll check what's going on with Bait+
