problem with gbpvr and hebrew epg....

hi
there is a problem with gbpvr regarding scheduling season recordings.
some work and some just tell you it is schedule but doesnt do anything.

from the support i got by gbpvr programmers they say its a problem with the hebrew epg
can you take a look and see if you can help me?
thanks

It's not a problem with the

It's not a problem with the EPG, there is a problem with gbpvr's ability to compare strings in Hebrew, they said that explicitly. There is nothing much to do unless they fix their engine...

Maybe the last thing to try... If their engine has problem with strings in Unicode, we can try to produce EPG with another encoding. Add to the megaepg.ini:

outputencoding=Windows-1255

This should produce the EPG file in the Windows hebrew encoding rather than UTF-8. I never tested this (only tested the opposite conversion into UTF-8) but think it worth a try.

:)

Hey
i am glad to say it worked. i have been looking for this solution for a long time and i though it was a problem with gbpvr.
i hope these 2 threads will help others with the same problem.

thanks alot

I'm glad :) You can write

I'm glad :)

You can write to the gbpvr author that he definitely has a problem with unicode strings. He might want to fix that. Unicode is quite a common encoding for languages other than English.

:)

thats funny
he just suggested that for you

Hi

Hi.
i changed the megaepg.ini line as you suggested.
but now i get this error when running the script
thanks

Fatel error: the show input encoding and the output encoding dosnt match
set the output encoding to utf-8

if i put a rem infront of the line, then it works but the scheduling problem returns.
do i need to change something in the regional settings?
thanks

What script you are using to

What script you are using to grab, again?

you told me to add

you told me to add outputencoding=Windows-1255 to mega.ini in order to fix a problem scheduling from gbpvr.
it could not find the program in the epgdata.xml file.
you told me to add the line and it worked but for a week now it cannot retrieve any data because of the error message
thanks
the only source i can use is ynet because the epg data from hot is empty (even in their site it is empty - a bit wierd) :)

Okay, I'll check it against

Okay, I'll check it against ynet.

thanks did you see that for

thanks
did you see that for about 2 weeks now ערוץ 10 is not downloading anything?
a friend of mine is using megaepg with HOT and he has alot of channels without any info

hi any change? thanks

hi
any change?
thanks

HOT is currently not

HOT is currently not providing TV guide info at their site. That makes the HOT EPG support VERY poor. I don't know what can be done regarding this matter except massive complaints of HOT users. HOT should figure out how important the web tv guide is for its customers...

well i removed HOT from the

well i removed HOT from the source list but with Ynet i cant get channel 2 and 10.
so we are a bit stuck with no epg source at all now

ok i added tv2day and it

ok
i added tv2day and it fill up the rest that ynet, hot and walla couldnt update
thanks

Great idea! I've started

Great idea!

I've started to write a script for "Rashut shnia", they have the guide for Channels 2 and 10. But your solution is really faster for now. If HOT will not return their EPG online, I'll have to complete the special script for 2 and 10 :(

i saw in hometheater.co.il

i saw in hometheater.co.il alot of people complain about this
can you add this solution to the main page as an announcement?

talked to HOT. they are

talked to HOT.
they are finishing the merge between the 3 cable suppliers.
their website will be in a new and improved way between the 11 of may and the 1 of june.
i guess you will need to change the megaepg engine to get the new epg from hot

A "new and improved way"

A "new and improved way" sounds very promising but this means a complete new development for me :)

HOT EPG is back now. hot_he

HOT EPG is back now. hot_he script can be used again.

hi

hi
after a long time that my EPG hasnt been updated, i did a full update manually.
the epg is now online again but the problem is back.
the original topic about scheduling a full season doesnt record
you said to try and produce a different output file but i gave me an error.
do you have any idea what i should do ?
thanks

hi again

is there a way i can run the megaepg software and retrieve the xml file in utf-8 format but convert it to Windows-1255 so gbpvr can read it better?

at the top of the epgdata.xml file there is a line <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?
can you make it somehow that instead it will write <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1255"?
that way all epg data will be imported into gbpvr better

or is there a command line that i can use to change that line?
thanks

HELP!!!!!! hi i need help

HELP!!!!!!
hi i need help ...... how can i make the epgdata.xml output the file in windows-1255?
can it input uts-8 but output it as Windows-1255?
please help me

There is a problem to output

There is a problem to output win-1255 encoding with walla (or any other source with incoming utf-8 encoding). Fixing the problem will take some time, this is not too simple. I'm sorry. As a meanwhile solution try to google external programs that convert utf-8 -> win-1255.

can i add to the megaepg.ini

can i add to the megaepg.ini something like
Inputencoding=utf-8
outputencoding=Windows-1255

do you know of any vbs script that will convert?
i found this thread
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Web_Languages-Standards/...

maybe it could help implement it inside the software

ok

Hey buddy
ok after checking other options i have found the solution.
i have checked hebepg - an old software that update from YES website and ynet.

it will update all the channels except channel 2 on the weekend but i can live with that.
it fixed all the issues with the recordings (that mean that the problem is in megaepg), but not only that
the cool thing about it is that it divides the channels name and the episode name.

about 2 versions ago, all the channel programs where "channel name - episode name + number" in every channel.
so when you schedule a season recorder it doesn't find it in the xml (because each program has a different name and episode number) so it never worked. now both the season record and the channel name is fixed.
unfortunately i have to stop using megaepg which i love.
hope the next version will fix all issues.
thanks mate

See you the next release

See you the next release then :)

hey

hey :)
i hope you are not too mad at me.
i love megaepg and the friendly user interface.
but i still have to fix this dawm issue.

do you have any idea when the next release will be out?
maybe you can integrate the fix that hebepg did and separated the shows name and the episode name
